Legal Defense of Historic Resources Fund
Each year we grow increasingly concerned and alarmed by the relentless loss of historic buildings and cultural heritage sites in the First State.
The PDI Board established the Legal Defense Fund to build reserves that will ensure that we have the financial resources to take legal action when necessary as sometimes that becomes the only option available. These funds will allow us to mobilize quickly, conduct research, and engage legal experts as necessary to defend against unlawful actions.
We thank you for following the support of others in building up this fund—and for standing with us as we fight for our invaluable heritage.

Annual proceeds from the First State Preservation Grant Fund at the Delaware Community Foundation enable Preservation Delaware to provide financial assistance in the form of outright grants to historic property owners for capital projects and restoration work. Often this seed funding leverages significantly more investment in securing a building or site’s future. Each year, demand for such funds always outstrips available funding and therefore PDI strives to grow the endowment fund to be able to support more projects with greater amounts.
