For those wishing to take photos in the beautiful historic Marian Coffin Gardens in their lovely prom attire, please pre-register or be prepared to pay at the gate on the evening of the event. Only those dressed to attend prom will be charged a $20 entry fee. All others, family members, friends and photographers, are free to enter. There will be an attendant there to assist you.  Prom Photo Registration If you have any questions please email info@preservationde.org or call 302-322-7100. Please note we are not doing any group rates this year.

Hours of Operations:

Garden hours are from Dawn to Dusk every day. So for the spring and summer we are open from approximately 8:00AM to 7:30/8:00PM. In the fall and winter the gardens are open approximately 8:00AM to 5:00/6:00PM. There are no lights in the garden so you need to exit the gate and grounds at dusk.

Visiting the Gardens

Photography at the Garden! Single Photoshoots $150 and Photographer Annual Memberships $300

LARGE GROUPS & PHOTO SHOOTS:
We love that you love the Gardens as much as we do.  But too much of a good thing is... not necessarily great for historic gardens!
We welcome small groups to stroll and enjoy the Gardens at your leisure under the rules posted.  But, large groups (10 or more) or those doing professional photo shoots MUST pre-schedule an appointment with the PDI office. Please email us at info@preservationde.org at least 5 days in advance of your desired visit.  Parties without reservation and/or unpaid fees will be asked to depart.  No more than one large group or photo shoot will be scheduled/allowed at any given time. Phone number 302-322-7100.
Please see rules and procedures below for additional information.  Donations are always most welcome to support the upkeep of the Gardens.

What hours are the gardens open?  7 days a week from sunrise to sunset.

Where are you located? 1405 Greenhill Avenue, Wilmington, Delaware
(one block from the intersection of Greenhill Road and Route 52, Pennsylvania Ave)

Do you have parking?  The courtyard parking lot may be used for dropping off and picking up, but we ask that you park on the street and take care not to block any of the driveways or the parking lot. We are granted access to the parking lot, but it is part of the Gibraltar Mansion property, not the Marian Coffin Gardens.  Street parking along Greenhill Avenue is best.

Do you have restrooms? No.  Please plan accordingly. There is a port-a potty on site.

Can I bring my dog?  As much as we love our furry friends, no pets are allowed except for licensed service animals.

What is the admission fee? No fees. Completely free except for professional photo sessions or large groups (10 or more).

What’s currently blooming? The gardens change throughout the seasons.  In the spring, there are native and exotic azaleas, Magnolias, Spanish bluebells, and tulips.  Late spring, there are peonies and iris.  Early summer is roses, lambs ear, water lily, and catmint.  Come summer there are crape myrtles, water lily, Asian lilies, blackberry lily  (Belamcanda chinensis), and gladiolus.  In the fall there are lovely fall colors to enjoy.

Can I visit the Gibraltar mansion? Unfortunately, the mansion is not safe to enter and is off-limits. Preservation Delaware does not own the mansion property.

I am a professional photographer interested in taking client photos. How can I get more details? Please click the links below for more information and pricing:

How do I volunteer? Please contact us at info@preservationde.org for information about volunteering.

How do I donate? Donations by garden visitors are welcome.  There is an onsite donation box at the entrance gate and we accept online donations here on the web site.

I'd like to hold an event at the Garden.  Due to limited resources, including parking, storage, and staff, we are not scheduling private events including weddings at this time.

Are the gardens handicapped accessible? Geneally, yes, but please be aware, you are outside on uneven terrain and walkways.  There are a few steps from one garden area to another.

I have additional questions. Who do I contact? Please send an email to info@preservationde.org or call 302-322-7100.
