SOS! (Save Outdoor Sculpture!) is a private/public initiative to document all monuments and outdoor sculpture in the United States and to help communities and local groups of all ages and interests preserve their sculptural legacy for the next century. SOS! is a joint project of the Smithsonian American Art Museum and Heritage Preservation.

Bradley Skelcher, former coordinator for Delaware SOS!, and Delaware State University along with SOS! volunteers are responsible for creating the inventory of outdoor sculpture in Delaware in partnership with Friends of Old Dover, the National Museum of American Art, the Smithsonian Institution, and the National Institute for the Conservation of Cultural Properties

In August 1998, with support from the Delaware Division of the Arts, Preservation Delaware became the headquarters for the Delaware branch of the SOS! project. Preservation Delaware maintains and builds upon an existing inventory (created by volunteers in 1995) of the state's outdoor sculpture, sponsors educational programs, and offers a library of outdoor sculpture publications and resources. With the foundation of SOS! in place, PDI is working to build the initiative into a vibrant statewide collaboration of arts, preservation, and other civic organizations that will mobilize broad-based grassroots enthusiasm for discovering, honoring, and protecting outdoor sculpture.  PDI will soon release a printed guide and map highlights of Delaware's outdoor sculpture.
