Meet PDI Intern Rhonda Powell-Sargeant, Tax Credit Promotion Presentation Available

Rhonda working on her presentation in the PDI offices, New Castle.

Thanks to a grant from the State Historic Preservation Office, Preservation Delaware was able to hire Rhonda Powell-Sargeant to create a presentation to promote the State’s Historic Preservation Tax Credit program.   Rhonda worked with me this semester as an intern to develop this introductory presentation geared for historic property owners and managers across the state unfamiliar with the program.    Check out a teaser for the tax credit program by clicking here.  Congratulations to Rhonda on completing her degree.  With all requirements satisfied, she will graduate on May 20th with a M.A. in Historic Preservation.

More on the project:  As part of the tax credit promotion project, Preservation Delaware devised and distributed a survey to previous users of the Delaware Historic Preservation tax credits to find out what they thought of the process.  Two of the strongest conclusions from the survey were that former users would recommend the program to others for the benefits received and that Joan Larrivee of the State Historic Preservation Office provides excellent help to guide applicants through the process.

Looking for Venues:  Already given to the Hockessin Rotary by PDI Director Terry Graham and at the Lewes Historical Society’s event, Restoration Destination: Delmarva’s Preservation and Home Builder’s Expo, Preservation Delaware asking groups in communities with National Register listed historic properties if they would like us to present a brief 20 minute presentation to their membership.  If you know of a group that would be a good candidate for us to come speak to, please contact me at fieldrep@preservationde.org or contact the PDI office at 302-322-7900.  Look for us at a meeting near you!
