Preservation Delaware: Protecting the Irreplaceable in the First State

About PDI

INDEX

Delawareans are rapidly losing the historic architecture and surrounding landscapes that embody the state's rich past. Many buildings and sites have been lost over the years through neglect, ignorance, lack of respect, poor planning, or limited options for preservation. Now a focused, coordinated program is in place to safeguard these historic sites and structures. Launched in 1993, Preservation Delaware, Inc. (PDI) is a membership-driven organization directed by citizens concerned about Delaware's vanishing past.

Preservation Delaware, Inc. is the statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of Delaware's architectural heritage and historic settings. PDI is a statewide partner with the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Motivated by the urgent need to protect Delaware's architectural and archaeological heritage, the goals of the organization are pursued through educational programs, public policy initiatives, and preservation projects.
